This doesn't exactly fit within the thread title but...
My college performed Midsummer Night Dream and during one scene, many of the character's had to pretand to be asleep for quite a while. Well, one of them actually HAD fallen asleep.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 7:15pmdoing annie, in our trainwreck version of nyc (restaged 45 times and it still sucked since the set designer never mentioned she ran out of money (40 grand for the new set and she only used flats and walls from prior shows the math didn't add up) before she made the new york street set) the ensemble made their entrance down the aisles before standing motionless on the sides of the stage, well one night i was watching the show on a monitor and it dawned on me i was watching, from the dressing room, my cue to enter from the back of the house... so i literally came barrelling down the aisle since i was running full tilt by the time i got to the door, needless to say it didn't work for the elderly aristocrat i was portraying.

Okay.......doing a show called Wonderland! which was a stupid adaption of the book of Through the Looking Glass A.K.A Alice in Wonderland.
So I played the train conductor and had the most embarising song....Ride The Choo Choo.....yeah. Here`s a link to like 22 seconds of the song: http://www.pioneerdrama.com/searchdetail.asp?pc=WONDERLAND&id=6
It`s at the right side with the list of songs....just click it!
(It`s just the chorus)

Nathan- that's what I was in last summer and we did all those songs. Jabberwalky had to be THE WORST!
Edit: For the choo-choo song, the bunny hop was first. oy

Posted: 6/19/06 at 11:07pmThe most embarassing thing for me was sort of recent. I played Rosie ( a Kit Kat Girl) in my schools production of Cabaret and it was just a little embarassing being really risque in front of my family when they came to see it... twice... eek! lol!

I was a sheep.
Yeah. No lines. Just a sheep. In a wooly suit of..wool. And fluff. My big scene was scampering clumsily on my knees to run away from the "Big Bad Wolf" who was coming to eat me.
And succeeding in eating me.
Oh wait no- I had a line. A slighly dishearted "squeak" as I was being devoured off stage.
Fun stuff.

I've always tried to just go with what the director asks- embarassment be damned...
But the real winner for me had to be my entrance as the Jedi Knight in a bad Rocky Horror ripoff finale dream song in which a girl with three breasts laments about her terrible boyfriend, ("A brain? Are you insane? / He's nuts. He's such a putz.") It was a workshop of a new show that had some VAGUE moral about self-image... all I know is, when I made my entrance in her nightmare to swing around a lightsaber, something in me died a little...

Oh I was Titania in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and it required me to bellydance for one part of it. First time I did it it was quite embarassing... after that though (and i got the scarf with the coins which made it easier) it was just fun.
All the innuendo at first is also embarassing, until you know the other actor better...
oi.

When I was in 8th grade, we did this play called The Crane Wife in which I played The Crane Wife (my one and only title role... sigh), and I had to come onstage in the beginning wearing a "crane head" (made out of chickenwire and paper-maiche) and flapping my arms. Yeah... that was bad.
My first dance show freshman year (I go to a performing arts school)... well, my teacher was a little bit crazy... we did this dance to a Santana song, and it was kind of Spanishy and we were wearing red dresses, and it was called "The Red Dress." And in the end I had to come in wearing a shorty bathrobe, waltzing with a red dress on a hanger. (I found out this past year that the upper level kids were all saying things like, "Oh, look, she did her dry-cleaning!") Yep.

Posted: 6/20/06 at 11:58amPrior to graduating from school, it was a tradition that all outgoing senior classes were expected to put on a play. Rather than going with something established, they selected these two guys in the class who shared one brain cell to write a play to perform. It was light years beyond horrible - a comedy about doomed passengers on a crashing airplane (yes, it was that bad). Initially, all they could produce was a 15-minute mini-epic that contained exactly one line for everyone in the class, except themselves (who seemed to dominate every scene). They gradually extended it to 40 minutes. Everyone knew it was awful and having to read the few dreadful lines each of us were given was a soul-destroying experience. However, the nutty teacher in charge (who incidentally adored these two guys) kept flouncing around and acting like we were performing high art and kept ranting about "motivation" and "maintaining the mood." I forbid anyone I knew to see it - I was so mortified. Ironically, the biggest laugh the show produced was when a classmate playing a stewardess lost her footing on the rickety set and fell, effectively knocking the back half of the makeshift plane to pieces.

Dark-
I did Pippin years ago. The Orgy scene is FUN!!!! But we got the giggle one night in rehersal.
Pippin said "..time weaves wibbons of memories".
We cracked up. At that moment im arm in arm with another woman facing the floor. we are forming a table of sorts so pippin can rest his arms in front of him. Well. Every night she and I would start to giggle when we got to that part, and our whole bodies would shake. Pippin could not hear us laughing, just feel our bodies shaking. We got threatened with phsical torture if we didnt stop because HE Would loose it JUST by feeling us shake with laughter.
*my most embarassing top 3
1. Doing the *worst* production *EVER* at Richter Park- Sweet Charity
2. Dressing as a dancing tulip in a childrens tour
3. Undressing on stage during the song "a lady needs a change".

"When I 11 we had to do this thing about punctuation in English Class. I got the honor of reading the lengthy poem about the period, and of course, it happened to be the first time I had experienced my monthly friend. I bet my face was beat red the entire time I was up there."
Ok- that one wins!
