OH and how could I forget.
CHEYENNE JACKSON! Of course. I don't think I've ever heard a voice like his on Broadway.

Posted: 8/27/08 at 8:23pmShe's not on Broadway (though she should be every minute of the day) but I think Donna McKechnie has a really unique and wonderful voice.

I'm going to second Brian d'Arcy James. I would now his voice anywhere. It's so unique and he can sing different styles and rock them all. In the production I saw of The Wild Party, I couldn't get used to the Burrs because I associate Brian's voice with it so much.
Add me to the list of people who agree with the Julia Murney and Alice Ripley nominations.

What about Norbet Leo Butz? I think his voice is very distinct and wonderful.
I will also second Gavin Creel, I can always tell when he's singing. There's something so genuine and pure about his voice.

I'd say definitely Michael Ball. He's got the most distinctive voice I've heard, very big and resonant. I tend to describe him as English musical theatre Elvis...
Also, Colm Wilkinson. If Sean Connery could sing and he was eating mashed potatoes at the time, that's who he'd sound like.

Julia Murney
Patti LuPone
Audra McDonald
Those were the first three to come to mind, they all have voices that you can pick out and distinguish, even in a chorus.
Betty Buckley and Victoria Clark also come to mind. Actually, I'm shocked Victoria wasn't been mentioned earlier.

Dorothy Loudon.
A stunning jewel of talent, with so much emotion and feeling in every word.
