I probbably wont see this. I saw their production of Zanna Don't and I was pretty disappointed (there's only 1 descend actor- I forgot her name?)-very amateurish-IMO- though I might see their productions of THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED, SOME MEN & HISTORY BOYS ....

Sometimes you can get them on ebay for cheap though!
Oh my god.
I happen to have this CD. I was talking about the Chicago Revival on another thread and I was looking for the name of London's Mama Morton... so I looked at my CD box and guess what I found.... I did not even know that I own this .. LOL !

It's not just that it is out of print. There were two releases of the original cast album: one contained all the versions of Out On a Limerick and also all the different Murderer's Confessions, the other contained just the versions of those songs from the Broadway opening night. The cd with all the different versions has been out of print for ages and is a true find for a collector.
I saw the Boston production a couple of weekends ago and it was just a blast. Helena Landless was revealed to be Datchery, the Reverend Crisparkle was the murderer, and the Princess Puffer was romantically paired up with Deputy.
jaystarr, i actually LOVED this production of SpeakEasy's "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" and i HATED the production they did of "Zanna Don't!". i'd definitely give this production a shot. it's such a breath of fresh air
Folky- Okay . I will try to this one..only if the Broadway strike still goes on...The problem I had with SpeakEasy is they are either Hit or Miss. Not that I am down with the local regional theaters here in our own turf (Boston)
Here's my two cents...
Huntington- I like it.. very professional ! I almost like all their productions last year except PERSEPHONE.
SpeakEasy- Hit or miss !
Boston Theater Works - I see at least 1 of their production a year. I am not really crazy about them. the only decent production they had last year - was their import CONFESSION OF A MORMON BOY- I think some of the gay guys on the street have better story to tell than that Mormon Boy. ouch !
American Repertory Theater (ART -Cambridge)- very experimental, other side of the spectrum.. I dont even get what are they doing sometimes..LOL !
Lyric Stage Company- I actually like them a lot !
New Repertory Theater (in Watertown) another Hit or Miss.
Merrimack Theater Repertory - I like their plays.. I was dispointed with their musical like DINAH WAS .
North Shore Theater Company- They are very consistent with me. They never fail to DISAPOINTMENT me. I wonder why I drive to Beverly, MA- all the time -just to be disapointed.
Sometimes I would rather take the Fung-Wah bus to NYC for an 8 hour trip ..just to see Broadway. Its worth it... I am sorry to say but there's not a lot of good theater here in Boston ..unfortunately...
I will try to feature these Boston's Regional Theater in my 10/10 Report- when there's something good, descent and I wont be very negative !
Thanks for the recommendation!
