Permission has been granted to work on a Bob Marley 'juke box' musical due in 2008
Believe I read an article about this a year or two ago- apprantely, was supposed to open off-broadway, with the hopes of transferring to a Broadway house.
Dont know if they would find an audience, but I would definitely be there !!!
Pretty hard to make Marley into "juke-box", but they could try.
yea i thought i rememberd this being pushed around some years ago but its just been confirmed in the UK press for a London opening in mid 2008. They want to play the Hammersmith Apollo- a house with a great history of pop/rock etc giants over the last 40 years.

If this isn't in the right hands, I will be very, very angry.
Agree, Misschung.... basically meaning that the family HAS to be involved, (Stephen !) or this could be a total disaster !!!
I can just see them playing 15 versions of "No Woman/No Cry" and "One Love/People Get Ready", and calling it a day !!
...the family are involved. They were mentioned in the release.

Is it an American candy bar?
"Is it an American candy bar? "
HA!!!!! Kinda! It makes you want a candy bar!!
Its a cigar that has the tabacco taken out and has another herb put in instead!
My first guess was correct! Makes you wonder what the 'merchandise' will be stocking!

The family is involved? Well, that's good, at least. Somehow I feel like this is going to be a hot mess, but I hope they prove me wrong. Bob Marley's music has some of the best melodies ever written, which will sound outstanding with a full orchestra, given that they get the right musicians and don't use electronic filler.
THAT would be sinful.
Do you have a link to this information?
I dont have the link anymore but it was in 3 daily UK papers last week. The Guardian, The Daily Mail and The Times.
