I heard a few snippets of a rehearsal today for this show.
If it looks as good as it sounds, the NY theatre community is in for a treat!
Dee Hoty is AMAZING!

My friend is in this show. I am seeing it on Friday. I will be interesting to see since I really haven't heard much about it beyond just the overview of the plotline.
Well, I wish it all the best, but when I saw it in Concord, CA, although the very talented actors gave it their all, it wasn't terribly effective as a musical or a suspense. Maybe it has improved in the meantime.
A "must see"?
They've apparently worked harder on this show in the past two years than they had in its first ten.
now, now...don't be saying anything against Hoty! I am one of her biggest fans and feel if anyone can lift this show up from it's "simply ok" history at the Willows theater, it's her.
NOT Brian Noonan, who made the preacher too "jokey" and "friendly" before he suddenly got all evil in act 2. The book and the movie were both centered around the creepiness of the preacher. From the beginning.

JustMe2, is it possible Brian's performance was a director's decision? I believe the director this time around is someone else.
LizzieCurry, you've seen the show before or are your comments based on the recording or your ouija?
I've seen the show twice. I thought Brian Noonan was great.

Then what did you mean by working harder in the past two years than the last ten?
The show's been around for a while. I liked the CD when it came out, but i suspect a lot has been changed.
I hope you are right, and the director can change Noonan's previously "funny but evil" performance. I wish I could see it again in NY to compare the performances and see.
I know MisterRussell, it makes me miss Dorothy Loudon even more.

That would be a little hard to do since the composer has been dead for almost three years.

How much is it actually been changed compared to the concept cast album? Has it got new songs?

There are more people in a creative team than just a composer.
Just saw the show.
It sounded better than the actual production, but great GREAT performances by Dee Hoty, Sy Adamowsky, Beth Fowler and Brian Noonan. I love "One More Harvest" - a great song that will be lost in a so-so show. All you females singers out there need to find this tune.
Brian Noonan was quite good. He scared me at the beginning because I thought he was a little TOO over the top, but I grew to love his take.
Also, if their amount of skill at this age is any indication of their future, Sy & little Carly Rose Soneclar are both destined for great things. That little girl can belt - Woo!
Finally, I can't wait for Allison Fischer and Ellen Harvey to have more featured roles. Does anyone know if either of them have anything in the works??
