Saw it Friday night. Was ready to leave at intermission, since I was soooo bored. It was a little better in the second act, but not too much. It's way too long. I usually like the different shows they have at the Laura Pels for our Roundabout subscription, but this wasn't one of them.

I saw this on Sunday, and loved it. I thought it was compelling, riveting, and well-written. For me, it was easily one of the most engaging plays that I've seen at the Roundabout in a long time (far superior to Pygmalion, certainly). To each his own, I guess.
Wow. My wife liked it even less than I did, and wanted to go read a book in the lounge until it was over. She also thought the second act was a little better than the first.
I thought it was confusing, not very compelling, and at times I was simply bored to death.
As you say, to each their own.....
I saw the first preview and didn't like it at all. However, I wanted to give myself another chance and saw it for the second time. Not much changed...
My friends didn't like it either. He talked to other patrons and they said they cared nothing about either one of the character in the play.

Would it even be worth seeing this for free? I have a low tolerance for preachy theatre, but I have to figure the Roundabout's judgment can't be that bad. Then again, Mr. Marmalade and Howard Katz were both pretty terrible productions of pretty terrible plays.

Yes, it would.
It's a political play. If you like that kinda thing, this is the show for you.
