Where are the rush seats located for The Pillowman? I am thinking about trying the rush in a few weeks but it depends on where the seats are located in the theatre.

Has anyone seen this play? What are your opinions on it? I've been dying to see it for a while, but know very little about it.

My sister and I did rush for the pillowman and we got seats in the left box, which were pretty good seats, we were the only ones in the box. I think for rush you can also get the right box and I think front row seats on the side...some might be partial view but I'm not sure. The play was amazing, I'm sure you'll really like it.

I was in the right box. It's sort of partial view, but that's only an issue at one point in the second act and I don't think I missed anything too important. Go see it, it's terrific.

My rush seat was Orchestra J110 - right on the centre aisle.

I rushed Pillowman and it was in the Orchestra all the way to the right, and it was a very obstructed view. I missed like a third of the stage, and there are these cool montages they do that I could hardly see. The rush is 25 bucks. The discount out right now on broadwaybox etc. is $50. Just spend the other 25 and get full view seats. You'll appreciate the show so much more. What I saw of the show was amazing, but I was very frustrated the whole time 'cause I was missing a lot.

I agree. When I saw The Pillowman I had second row all the way to the right and missed a lot of what was going on. In fact, I think I sat on my friend's lap through the entire play (or was that because I was scared sh*tless? re: The Pillowman Rush).

Depending on your budget obviously, you should definitely try to get decent seats for this play as the success of it really depends on the surprise and shock factor and if you miss half of the stage you will definitely lose out.

I think the first few people in the line get the box seats, which seem to be much better, so you might want to be very early.

I have no info on the rush (I got my tickets at TKTS) but the play itself is amazing. Very well-acted.

I am not sure if I am remembering correctly, but isn't the rush for students or anyone under 25 years old?

The left box was pretty good...the only thing that was hard to see was stuff that was to the far left of the stage, but not much went on their anyway. I think it was also good to be up higher during the scenes that were acted out behind Billy Crudup.

TGIF, you are correct. Rush is limited to students who are under 25 and have a valid student ID. I rushed it three weeks ago and sat in the left box. The play is amazing.

How early would I have to get there to get rush seats for an evening show?

I've seen the pillowman 4 times now, am I the only person who doesn't find it scary? Brilliant, but hardly scary.

Saw it last month - got there at 12:30 for a Saturday matinee and was in the center of the last row of the Orchestra - right next to a column.

FANTASTIC show! Simply brilliant - can't recommend it enough!

If I get there around 2 for tomorrow and try to get three tickets for the evening show, do y'all think that would work? I don't know what time the box office opens, or when they start selling the rush seats for the evening show...anyone?

Yeah, it's 3 hours before the show...I got there at 10am for the 11am sale for a Wed and Sat matinee, and I was the first and then second person in line. I haven't tried for an evening show, so I don't know about that.

PLEASE go see this play! My bf and I saw it last night and despite the rudest audience I have ever known, I thought it was easily the best play I'd seen since I Am My Own Wife. Thoroughly engrossing, very funny, horrifying, and complex.

I don't know how busy they've been at night, but I second-acted the Wednesday matinee and the mezz was totally empty. There were probably enough of us up there to fill one row. I have no idea if it's been like that at evening shows (obviously they've been doing business in the 80's percentage-wise, so some shows must be selling out) but I think it's kind of foolish to limit the rush tix to a dozen and then go and leave the mezz empty. You'd think they'd say to come back a 1/2 before the show, giving them a chance to sell as many as they could at full price and/or at TKTS, and then fill in as much as they can w/ $25 Youth Rush tix closer to curtain.

lildogs, what happened w/ the audience? Cell phones? I've seen the show 3 times, and twice I've had annoying things happen w/ audience members. The 2nd time I saw it, about 10 minutes in, some guy in the mezz started yelling and it took longer than it should have to get an usher over to shut him up. Then the last time I went a cell went off at a VERY inopportune moment at the end of Act I (I'm sure you can guess where I mean). Crudup looked pissed!
