As I was reading the Cd booklet of "The Prince of Egypt" I saw Andrew Lippa and Hugh Panaro's name listed as "Background Singers, New York"
I thought that was interesting.
I think this show would be a cool Broadyway Production to see.
The movies music is AWESOME and and Poweful and very moving...........wait I'm having Les Miz withdrawals......okay....but this show could so work on Broadway.

Yup! Don't know why Hugh and Andrew were ONLY in the background though! As for a Broadway production, I guess that's what they kind of tried with "Ten Commandments" in LA. At least that's the closest thing I can come up with. And well...we all know how that turned out!

I love Disney. But do we really need more Disney musicals on Broadway? Please, heaven forfend.
Substance would be very nice.
I wish DISNEY would produce a show like Caroline Or Change, in addition to the kids shows.
I mean are CARE BEARS THE MUSICAL NEXT?
Yeesh.

Stephen Schwartz is very good friends with Andrew Lippa, thus (i reckon) the reason they seem to be swapping actresses lol...
but yes it doesnt suprise me to either of them involved with any of each others work....go them...i dearly love them both!
I'd like to see The Prince of Egypt on Broadway...I think it definetly has a lot of substance, and great music to boot!
I think Corine was just commenting on the animated movies being turned into musicals.
Disney is has the power to produce excellent shows. I, like Corine said, would love to see them take on more shows that aren't "Cartoons".
Hakuna Matata.
It means no worries for the rest of your days.
No more kiddie shows.
PLEASE!!!!
Thank you TGIF!
Yes. What if Disney made shows that were intelligent and a bit edgy not like Aida.
LOL

While I love me some Aida, I think it would have been amazing if they took a darker approach to it. But I think Disney was afraid of people not seeing the show because of it.

I agree... Disney wants to maintain it's wholesome family-oriented reputation.

I could not stand Aida. I love The Lion King but never loved Aida.
I loved the OPERA. Love Elton, but Aida turned my stomach.
I did love the song "My strongest suit" but the rest was so loud.
I thought i would never hear again.
Well we all love different things! Lets both keep our fingers crossed for Disney to produce some really good shows.
You have to remember that The Prince of Egypt is NOT a Disney show it was made by Dreamworks. If The Prince of Egypt was made into a Broadway show that would be awesome and the could some major actors in this show even Hugh Panaro as Moses.....that would be so AWESOME.
i think Disney tries to keep a general audience in mind, yes. Both they took risks with LION KING (in directorial approach) and are apparently doing so as well with LITTLE MERMAID. Assumptions are always dangerous things.

Aida ends with the two leads being buried alive.
How "dark" do you want to go?
Never mind the quality of the show or lack thereof, I'd call this ending downbeat.
