I'm sure this has been mentioned in the past, but...wouldn't The Prince of Egypt make for a beautiful stage show? And Moses would be a kick ass role for any male and Hans Zimmer's score is beautiful.

Thoughts...

This was discussed VERY recently...

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Except for the story is so inaccurate.....
The Pharoah, in the Biblical story, has no name. It wasn't Ramses.

I have been wanting this for so long. Stephen Schwartz's (sp?) music is so beautiful. Set design would be fabulous.

it may not be mentioned in the bible, but isn't there evidence that the possible pharoah was Ramses? I think there is.

But I would totally LOVE to see this om stage. It would be interesting how they would do the parting of the red sea. Love this movie!

The evidence that Ramesses II was the Pharaoh of Exodus is inconclusive.

That aside, I think it would be interesting to see this adapted for the stage. I'm not really a fan, but I am curious to see how one would stage the 10 plagues!

Stop looking at my charisma.

Yes the story has skewed the biblical tale quite a bit, sometimes for no apparent dramatic or logical purpose (Making Tzipporah Moses's right hand man..erm...woman...instead of Aaron. I think Aaron becoming his sidekick would have been a great arc for his character).

But man oh man would I love to design sets and costumes for this show. Definitely Schwatrz's most sweeping and emotional score, I would love to see him expand on it.
