Seeing this show Sat night. When I saw Hugh interviewed on Jimmy Fallon he said everyone who comes to the show will get an autograph. I know some of you don't care about that, but I have two questions. One, is he really signing for everyone (I realize it would be at the stage door)? And two, are there window cards for sale? Thanks!

@gfaustswa - yes, I think he really tries to sign for everyone within reach (his bodyguard said no to any wolverine/x-men stuff altho 1 lady got her retractable wolverine claw autographed). Sadly, no window cards - the artwork is so beautiful… such a shame! I tweeted them but haven't gotten a response SPOILER - The River Previews

I will never understand why/how there are not window cards from night number one for limited run shows with big stars. They have had plenty of time to have them printed. *sigh* Thanks for the info! Appreciate it!

We got to the show more than an hour early to pick up our tix from the call window. As we're leaving I have one thing on my mind... getting a bite before the show. My boyfriend is staring at a group of 6-8 people, asking me, "Is that a dog?" I spend the next five minutes trying to figure out if one of the women is indeed holding a dog... (She was) when I finally realize that this small group of maybe 8 people is huddled around Hugh Jackman himself! So we went over. He could not have been kinder. He was friendly, chatting, taking pics with everyone. He was so nice, It was neat.

We had riverbank seating. I chose row BB on the aisle towards the center of the theatre and the view was phenomenal. I'm getting tired. I'll talk about the actually play tomorrow. But Barbara Walters was in the Row in front of us.

It must not have been a poster for the show. A friend was there tonight and they do not have them printed yet.

The BC/EFA campaign is now underway but most shows in preview do not participate until after Opening Night. Hugh might be reserving the signed posters/window cards as one of the offerings for BC/EFA? I guess one can get them later at more affordable prices when he has completed his BC/EFA campaign. For Back on Broadway, even if the official campaign had finished, he extended his auctions/other stuff on offer to complete the six weeks. Just guessing, of course SPOILER - The River Previews

Thank you everyone who is helping make my trip better next week. I love the love! I just really appreciate it. I'm not going to start crying or anything, but it really does make me feel good that there are others out there who try to help. You all are awesome. Thanks!

SPOILER ALERT***SPOILER ALERT***SPOILER ALERT

>>>*spoilers* It was funny, in the line for the ladies' restroom after the show, I overheard lots of conversations about what the play was about: "I think he killed all those women! He was a serial killer!"<<<

LOL - that was what I thought, too, when I first read the play SPOILER - The River Previews

Even the reviews in London suggested something sinister might be afoot. Especially when they also kept the cast member's name who played the third woman unlisted. Who knows - is the character of THE MAN clearly etched or is the audience left guessing in the current staging?

You are left guessing, but this is no DOUBT. The play is not strong or compelling enough to foster the debate, really. Afterward, you wonder what the truth is, but not in a substantive way that fosters critical thought. You only ask the question because you feel as though the playwright forgot to tell you.

I hate to say this because Hugh Jackman was super kind before the show, but it is by far the worst thing I have ever seen on Broadway. The set was cool, the riverbank seating fantastic. We were seated directly in front of the water faucet. Everything surrounding the show was great. The show itself...

He really does clean and prepare a fish wordlessly for a good five minutes. I was half expecting him to narrate the preparation Rachel Ray style. I was so bored. The novelty of seeing a big star wore off pretty quickly. There is a lot of fish talk. I just watched Lars Vin Trier's Nymphomaniac which is chock full of fish metaphors so I've pretty much had my fill. I certainly like ambiguity. I don't like having everything spelled out for me, but the storyline is so thin. I don't think there's enough story. I was so bored by river and fish talk that by the end I didn't care about any of it. I found it dull, tedious in spite of its short length... and pretentious.

I thought his preparation of the fish was the most interesting part of the show...
The soundscape really was fantastic as well.

I skimmed this thread before seeing the show to get some idea of what people were saying. Needless to say, I went in with pretty low expectations. However, I really enjoyed the show! I was completely engaged the whole time, and I found the themes and structure of the play to be good. Yes, it was confusing at times, but for me it was just confusing enough to make me think, but not so confusing that it completely lost me. The acting and direction were quite good as well.

I got to the day-of rush line at about 8:30 yesterday, and was about 24th in line. They did not have any rush tickets left when I got to the window, but they sold me a Standing Room spot for $30. About 5 minutes before curtain, they wanted to fill in the empty seats, so the ushers escorted the SRO people to empty seats, and I believe they gave the newly-vacated SRO spots to the people in the cancellation line. So in the end, I payed $5 less than I would have for the rush, and got just as good a seat!

As others have said, the stage-door was crowded, but the barricades extended all the way to the street. It looked like he did NOT sign for the people on the opposite side of the barricades (the side closest to 7th Ave). He came down the line and signed and chatted, but did NOT pose for pictures. He and the rest of the cast came out pretty quickly after the show let out (at least compared to many other stars at stage door)

Just reread the thread... Spoilers ahead

I never got the serial kill vibe. We see one of the women pack a bag and leave and we see him call the police to look for the missing woman. The serial killer theory doesn't make sense to me,

Is he just behaving the way his uncle did years earlier?

And the woman at the end... She was so unlike the others. My boyfriend noticed that Hugh never looks at her as she's speaking, She moves and behaves more ghostly, she also had mud on her feet. He never acknowledges her as she speaks. Did she drown in the river? I think so. Was she the true love?

It just doesn't seem to amount to much.

If the mud on the third girl's feet was a clue, it wasn't visible from row H.

For me, the show photos are as bland and unenlightening as the show itself. I guess that means they are at least representative of what the show is like.

I noticed it right away, but of course I was in row BB on the end with no one directly in front of me. She had mud and vines kind of wrapped around her feet. I thoughit had to mean something. No one else had evidence of the river before. I thought it was significant, but I never thought about the view from a further distance.

Could she have drowned and The Man was reliving his memories of her through the other women he has brought to the cabin?

If it had that much significance, it should have been made visible for those of us dummies who paid full price for a ticket!
