Does anyone know if this is an original arrangement made by Seth MacFarlane for his big band shows, or if this dates back to the Rat Pack singers? Moreover, does anyone have sheet music or charts for this one? I was at a sing-along on Sunday night, and I tried to work out an arrangement with the pianist, but the show sheet music is too far removed from the swing version to really work.

I suspect they are "sheet music lyrics." Old classic musicals often have extra lyrics written either by the composer or the publishing house to add to sheet music, to give singers who aren't playing a role in the show something more to sing, and to give potential pop covers more lyrics to work with.

The music book for Cy Coleman's musical "Little Me" is almost entirely "sheet music lyrics," for example, with relatively little of the show's actual text.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I was talking to a certain well-renowned music collector and theatre musicologist, and he hadn't known of this version of the song before, which made me think it was a new arrangement.

I guess I'll have to get one of my jazz associates to write me up a good transcription of it.
