OK, So I recently have been falling in love with "The Secret Garden" and was wondering if you guys could give me any info you know about it. good book, score, sets, diffucult parts, ect.
I'm not sure about what exactly you'd like to know.
anything. Your thoughts on it, would it be a hard production to put on? Ect.
It can be done simply. However, the music is very vocally demanding. A lot of strong singers inclucding males. Listen to the song "Lily's Eyes" --- it's chilling! Some of it is fun ("Wick") and nice to the ears ("Winter's on the Wing"). I have the script - I've never read all of it. But Marsha Norman is known to be a good librettist. And it's a classic story.
I said this before in another thread, but my high school put this on last year. It was fairly easy. A sophomore (who I swear is going to win a TONY someday) designed the set. It was gorgeous! Fashioned after Victorian greeting cards... anyway, yeah we really did have to have a bunch of strong singers... men and sopranos... a lot of sopranos! I love the Quartet (although, it's not my favorite of the show)!
Hope this helps, Footlooser!
Emily
