The Slipper and The Rose

Was the Slipper and Rose ever on the Broadway stage or at West End theatres? If not, on either count, do you wish that it would come to the stage? It's such an underrated musical, and I simply adore it, far more than I ever could the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.

I love the movie! I don't think its ever been on Broadway or on the West-End, but it has been performed on stage in both continents.

I adore the musical too as well as the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, but I think the latter has more memorable songs and easier to follow (well, when you're a kid).

The movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. I saw it when it was first released on the big screen in the U.S. in 1977.

I could see it doing well with a lavish production. That would sell it to audiences. And I do love the score.

One of my favorites!

One of my favorites as well. I saw it at Radio City Music Hall -- I think it must have been one of the last films to be shown there.

re: The Slipper and The Rose

Just did some research and it turns out that it was performed in Britan, but I'm almost certain it wasn't the West End. It also was performed in Utah, where it sold out almost every single one of its shows. At least that gives us some indication that it does work on stage; but is it made for a BROADWAY stage? The world may never know. Hey if Chitty and Mary can have their turn, then so can this.

My dad took the whole family to see this at RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL. I was 9 and I had a crush on Richard Chamberlain.
