For those of you who subscribe or read The Sondheim Review, you probably already know about this.
Mark Horowitz, who conducted a fantastic series of interviews with Sondheim about Sondheim's work process and shows, which he compiled in the book Sondheim on Music, will begin to write a regular column for the publication in which he goes into the history of and dissects Sondheim songs, along with interviews about the songs with Sondheim himself.
The first piece will be on 'Send in the Clowns' to be followed in the next issue by 'Losing My Mind'
It is sure to be quite a fascinating read for not only Sondheim fans, but for anyone who is vaguely interested in theatrical song writing.
I, for one, am greatly anticipating the series.
mmmm... can't wait for them to dissect "Bang!"...

Send In The Clowns sounds nice but what the hell does it mean

Send in The Clowns makes perfect sense within the context of A Little Night Music.

One of the founders/former editors of the Sondheim Review was an occasional guest-lecturer for my History of the Musical course. Really nice guy.
This sounds excellent. It's something I would definitely want to read. Maybe I should look into a subscription.
Does anyone here get The Sondheim Review? ...or know how?...:)

There's subscription info on http://www.sondheimreview.com/ :) It looks like you can buy one online with PayPal, or phone/fax/mail in a subscription request.
I'll be a subscriber by tomorrow.
Gov, you weren't already a subscriber?
Tsk, tsk.

Mommy's been keeping her credit cards in a different place ever since that "unfortunate" Chanukah incident......
I'm subscribed! Hurrah! Resource galore. Are there any other magazines or journals available about musical theatre? What is Playbill Magazine like? And what aboout Show People? Are there any others I should check out?
