Here's how it works. I'll write a part lyrics from a broadway song. Then the next person who comes along will say what song it is, and write another set of lyrics, but from a different broadway song. Then the chain keeps going, but you can't answer your own song!! *You can put an Off- Broadway song, but it's either that or Broadway nothing else*
I'll start.
What good is this chanting?
I don't even know what I'm reading!
I don't even know which trick I ought to try
Fiyero, where are you?
Already dead, or bleeding?
One more disaster I can add to my
Generous supply?

"No Good Deed" - Wicked
Prisoners in n*town
It's a dirty little war
Three Five Zero Zero
Take weapons up and begin to kill
Watch the long long armies drifting home

"Three-Five-Zero-Zero" - HAIR
Not every road you come across
Is one you have to take
No, sometimes standing still can be
The best move you ever make

"The Journey Home"- Bombay Dreams
Kiss today goodbye
The sweetness and the sorrow
Wish me luck, the same to you

"What I Did For Love"- A Chorus Line
You gotta know what to do
You gotta do it in a hurry
Gotta hustle
Gotta bustle
Gotta scoot
You gotta scurry

"Around Here" - 9 to 5
A little bunny in the meadow
Is nibbling grass without a care
He's so delightful as he hops for you
You say, "Hi, bunny"
And he stops for you
You pull your trigger
And he drops for you
Goodbye, bunny-boo
Hello, rabbit stew!

EDIT: "Don't Be the Bunny"
From moment to moment
You're two different people,
Faithful and warm, when
I'm in your arms,
And then, when you leave,
You're so untrue.

"Don't Be The Bunny" - Urinetown
A friend’s not a cheap little phony creep
Or a jerk trying to make a deal
A friend is a person who, most of all,
Cares about what you feel;
And nothing is harder
Than learning a friend isn’t real

"What it Means to be a Friend" - Thirteeen
There is blood on the ground.
And the band starts to play as the horses go round

"And They're Off" - A New Brain
I left my rambling days behind me
And found a little mountain home
In a peaceful monastery
Nevermore I vowed to roam
Then one day as I sat praying Suddenly I heard a knock
When I peeked out through the curtains
I could barely stand the shock

Hmmm...I didn't start the game, of course, but -- as the OP wrote we were guessing a "Broadway" song -- I'm thinking it should probably be from something we all could know...
Otherwise, the game will sadly die off... :)
Was this from a recent Off-Bway run? Can you give us a hint?

^ But wasn't "A New Brain" an Off-Broadway musical?
This show only ran for a month. So it really is a hard one.

"That Wicky Wacky Hula Hula Honka Wonka Honolulu Hawaiian Honey of Mine" -- "Radio Gals"
McNamara's band
The fattest lady in the land
A pickled prehistoric hand
A strand of Pocahontas' hair
Crow and Sioux
Who're going to
Be showin' you
Some rowin' through
A model of the rapids
On the Delaware

I guess you could say that, but the theater in the case of A New Brain was the Mitzi Newhouse at Lincoln Center, LOL, so not all "Off-Bway" is exactly the same thing...
Otherwise, good point. I've never seen A New Brain done, but the recording has been around for years...
I'm stumped on this one, though...

"The Museum Song" - BARNUM
And nothing has changed
There's nothing a miner can do
The pit and your mates
Turned into the hold and the crew...
And the screws are turnin at seventy-two...

The Museum Song from Barnum.
Hello, I come with letters from her Majesty, Victoria,
Who, learning how you're trading now, said, "Hallelujah, Gloria!"
And sent me to convey to you her positive euphoria,
As well as little gifts from Britain's various emporia.

"Please, Hello" - Pacific Overtures
(Ok. I'll try mine again...(bad) timing is everything ) :)
And nothing has changed
There's nothing a miner can do
The pit and your mates
Turned into the hold and the crew...
And the screws are turnin at seventy-two...

GContini - "Barret's Song" - "Titanic"
Kad - "Please Hello" - "Pacific Overtures"
I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's,
I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,
I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,
In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolus.

Barrett's Song -- Titanic
But here the pain is never out of sight
The sick the starved the poor
There is no room for us to turn away
We can't just shut the door

Song Of The Major General - Pirates of Penzance (averagebwynut)
Just when I'd stopped opening doors
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines,
No one is there.
