re: The Sound of Music

Maybe. Or maybe Mirvish never had any plans to extend in the first place and these *insider* posts about it are just b.s.

re: The Sound of Music

I don't know totheatreguy and we both had heard basically the same thing. It's not "b.s.".

I don't know the official reason why they decided to not extend again but there are a few in the cast (yes, particularly males) that couldn't continue with the first extension because of other commitments.

Eric: The truth is, theatre is a constantly shifting industry and it's really tough for the decision makers, and even tougher for even us outsiders to predict the outcome based on the information at hand. Our guess work is just that, guess work. Since theatre is the stuff of hopes and dreams, I will leave it at that.

re: The Sound of Music

A patronizing *hahaha* right back to you totheatreguy, but nobody said anything about anybody wanting to *mislead* us all. I was just noticing how much *inside* info gets posted on these forums that turns out to be totally bogus. And then to make it worse, you have the *insiders* inventing b.s. explanations about how their bogus info would have been true except for this or that or the other.

You say *In this case the decision was being strongly considered because of the strong sales for the bottom of this week: the final five shows for SOM have sold out. Obviously, the reasons NOT to extend where more compelling.* But waht evidence do you have to share that *the decision was being strongly considered* in the first place? The Mirvishes never said a word about any second extension as far as I know. They announced one extension, then a closing date, and then they closed, like they saiod they would. Where do all these predictions about an extensin, for sure, come from? And as for the *strong sales for the bottom of this week* being the *reason* you say they *strongly considered* an extension, did you notice that ALL tickets for the final week were sold half price? Doesn't that usually mean the producer can't fill the seats? That's not *strong sales*

First, I have to apologize if you felt my message was patronizing, it was intended to be light hearted but without the benefit of the subtleties of tone and inflection I find I have trouble communicating online. I do my best to respect everyone on the board.
