No one is stopping you from doing that. Most people don't have that kind of time."
That's my point. The in-person lotteries were for people who set aside time to go to them and hopefully they'd be rewarded for it. It created an excitement and buzz. Instead of competing against maybe 50 to 100 people you're competing against thousands."
Sounds like it's a you problem.

Digital rush levels the playing field."
Thank you. It's weird people wish for for less accessible rush tickets. Must be nice to have the privilege of being unemployed, able bodiedand NYC resident."
But like... maybe those employed people with regular salaries can support the arts by paying for regular tickets (either full price or with a discount code). Not gonna lie, I miss the times when most "rush" tickets were for students and all other "day-of" cheap seats for the masses were by in-person lottery. Digital rush and lotteries have actually made these shows LESS accessible for those who benefit from the discounts the most. And yes, I know not everyone who is employed full-time can afford full-price tickets, though many can. And yes, I know that students can sign up for TDF, but not all shows end up on TDF."
Was reading this thread again and I must say it's completely rude to say we're not supporting the arts unless employed people pay full price. That's insane.

Yes, I have a problem competing with thousands of other people to win lottery for Broadway shows. I'd rather compete against 100. Dumb logic, right? What am I thinking not wanting to compete with the whole tri-state area? I should be ashamed of myself.

You should be ashamed thinking only certain people should be able to access rush. Do you realize if you think only people who can get to the theater should be able to rush, that's limiting accessibility for affordable tickets for a whole group of people who can't get to the theater? You'd be competing with people anyway, because there would still be people getting there before you that you'd compete with. Sure the pool would be smaller, but you're ridiculously rude for thinking it should be limited to a certain group of people. Yes, you should be ashamed. And if you're under 30 years old, you have an even better chance than those over 30 because of those shows that have the 30 under 30 rush programs/30 under 30 programs like Second Stage. You have plenty of opportunities. Stop being greedy.
I think it’s possible to hold two things in your head: it’s nice that more people have access to tickets and it’s also disappointing that the odds of getting them are smaller.

There's always odds against you. There are very few guarantees with rush too no matter how many people participate. That's just how it is. It's possible to understand that limiting who can rush is a bizarre standpoint to have. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but get over it. Theater is inaccessible already- you really want to take it away from others who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise, no matter what their income is? Be real. Let's move on.

Well, I didn’t say or imply any of that but congratulations, you’ve won the altruism award.
