If you were to give out Tony Awards to the best of the best ever, in the history of Broadway, what/who would be the recipients of the following categories?:
BEST MUSICAL
BEST PLAY
BEST ACTOR-PLAY
BEST ACTRESS-PLAY
BEST ACTOR-MUSICAL
BEST ACTRESS-MUSICAL
BEST SCORE
BEST BOOK
BEST SET DESIGN
LIGHTING
ORCHESTRATIONS
COSTUMES
DIRECTOR-MUSICAL
DIRECTOR-PLAY
SUPP.ACTOR-MUSICAL/PLAY
SUPP. ACTRESS-MUSICAL/PLAY
and anymore if you can think of them...I'm thinking of my 'winners' now. This is hard!

Wait a minute - I've been attending Broadway shows for almost 20 years, and I wouldn't feel qualified to vote on this. I daresay there are very few people who know enough about Broadway and its history to be able to answer this question. Most of us have only seen shows from the past 5, 10, 20 (and I bet 20 is very rare) years.

Mine were just my own personal choices. I think that's what you are supposed to list. I don't believe that my list is the ULTIMATE list---it's my ultimate.

True, Rath...which is probably why no one is posting on here :)

Why would that matter? As a topic for discussion its a good as any of course no one has seen every show and even if all of us had we would still disagree on which one "deserves" to be recognized.
It is all opinion of course and mine for me is actually to agree with you Rath, I don't know enough to make a list. But if someone has seen just Good Vibrations and wants to give the "ultimate Tony" in every category to that that's thier perogative.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I think most people don't respond to this post because we get tired typing "WICKED" in for EVERY single category!

I also think one could make an opinion based on history and what has stood the test of time the strongest. For example, I bet only one or two people ever saw the original Glass Menagerie, but I bet one could still argue Laurette Taylor for Best Actress if they felt that was the ultimate performance.

I didn't see A Chorus Line on Broadway but based on history and the musical itself, I would argue that it deserves Best Musical.

But I do pray this doesn't become a list of Wicked/Brooklyn/etc.
