unless the audience attendance picks up...
i'm sure it will find an audience off-broadway & the running costs would be less...this piece deserves a healthy run in nyc - broadway or off-broadway..

The cast and orchestra are too large to support an off-Broadway run.

I'm not familiar with all the off-broadway houses- regardless- adjustments could be done. they have doyle at the helm, he is the master of the scalpel. ![]()

Moving off-B is economically as well as logistically impossible.

The set would have to be drastically reduced. They would have to redesign the set & basically junk the current one. In addition, they would have to reduce the cast including maybe one less of Chita's eunuchs . They would have to bastardize it and would it really make a difference? I cannot see this succeeding no matter what the venue
Do not get me wrong. My wife & I loved it but the piece is simply to dark to succeed and moving will not change that simple fact.

The only real benefit to moving off-Broadway is to potentially attract more people by having a lower ticket price enabled by having lower operating costs. Clearly, ticket prices being too high has not been the problem. They are practically letting people in for free and still it's poorly attended. And I can't see heavy hitters like Chita and Roger Rees staying with this if it is moved off-Broadway. It's one thing to have a hit show like Avenue Q move Off-Broadway to get another couple of years out of it after a long, successful and much acclaimed Broadway run. It's another to have a show that ran for a few months and failed on Broadway move to an off-Broadway house hoping to find the audience it was unable to find before. For THE VISIT, moving to a smaller house won't change the fact that people just aren't that interested in seeing it.
