The Budget and the debt ceiling are two completely different things - one is the money you plan to spend, and the other is paying for what you have already spent.

So, while we do need to get our budgetary house in order, using the debt ceiling to extort something out of the threat of fiscal chaos is bad faith in its worse form.

I am fine with shared sacrifice. But, if you are not going to after corporate welfare, not willing to cut oil and gas subsidies or farming subsidies, but then scream at the amount of Pell Grants, then you have lost me. Everyone needs to be responsible for the debts of this nation.

Somewhere, Naomi Klein is shaking her head in recognition of this fabricated crises.

And Roxy, Reid proposed approximately 2.4 trillion in cuts, almost 3 times what was proposed in the house. This has nothing to do with the budget and everything to do with politics and political theater.
