Well I guess the speculations were right, The Wedding Singer is indeed playing at the Al Hirschfeld theatre once Charity has parted.

Playbill Article

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

I was wondering the same thing! This is excellant news though! I adore Amy and she's going to be amazing in this role!

Why does it always seem that ever since the Martin Beck Theatre was renamed, it has been getting the "cheesy" musicals? Know what I mean, know what I mean, nudge nudge, nudge nudge, say no more, etc.

First mention I've seen of Amy playing Holly was in this article. I also like how later on in the article, it says casting for Holly will be announced at a later date. Oops.

Meanwhile, never mind the BWW typo but does anyone besides me think it's nonsense that Holly isn't being played by Orfeh? And before we start the whole fight about whether she auditioned, or was available or not, it just seems obvious that she should have been cast to play "the Madonna wanna-be, best friend". Amy Spanger does nothing for me and never has. I apologize to her staunch fans, but really, she's so tepid all around.

Jasobres, I guess you missed out on the incredible string of '70s and '80s bombs at the Martin Beck, including It's So Nice to be Civilized, Onward Victoria, A Little Family Business, The First, Bring Back Birdie, Harold and Maude, The Rink, Take Me Along, and Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. It had a very rough 10 years between Dracula in 1977 and Into the Woods in 1987.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
