The WiW End Spoilers?

Forgive me for asking for the spoiler, but what's the whole deal of the ending? I know pretty much the bulk of the show, but everyone I know who has seen it won't tell me the end.

So now, with the show closing, I obviously won't get there.

How does it end?

I have seen the Westend production twice with different endings. what is different about the Broadway ending. I don't remember Marian having a secret.

That came after the London ending, which had Marian singing "I close my eyes..." She talks about how things have changed, altered now forever, and then says something like now I have a secret. The scene shifts to the church where we see Walter and Laura come out of the church after their wedding. There is some dancing and then Laura puts her bouquet on Anne's grave.

Story about the secret:

I was in New York last week and saw TWIW. At the very end, when Marian says she has a secret, there was a brief discussion from the older women next to me.

"Wait, wait, what's her secret?"
(Very matter-of-fact) "Oh, she's pregnant."

Gee... I didn't get *that* at all. Besides, that wouldn't remain a secret for very long, now would it?

LOL, purple cow... that's funny.

I once heard speculation from people sitting behind me that Anne was Glyde's daughter, and some other outrageous theories that escape me at the moment. At a Wednesday matinee, when Fosco picked up the rat, a woman sitting near me (who had been whispering a bit), asked "is it real?" :rolleyes:

Anyway, Marian's secret is her love for Walter, to be kept secret from Laura forever.

isnt the end of the show where Marian and Old Deuteronomy journey to the Heavy Side Layer on a tire while Laura finds the Phantom's mask in his throne, then Walter rises up in the air with his coat of many colors underneath him. A tomb, a monument, was to be built to Anne Catherick when her body disappeared, for 18 years. And Sir Percival Glyde runs on the track but is shot dead by Norma Desmond and lies face down in her pool.

Then kec said, "Anyway, Marian's secret is her love for Walter, to be kept secret from Laura forever." And now I remember.

I believe that's it.
