Hey Broadwayworld people. I'm auditioning for The Wiz in September with True Colors Theater Company (Kenny Leon is the artistic director...famous for Directing many movies and musicals such as Raisin in the Sun) and I am auditioning for the Scarecrow and I'm having trouble picking a song so I need some help. Should I sing:
Dancing Through Life (Wicked)
Endless Night (The Lion King)
Family (Dreamgirls)
Thanx

You might want to rethink all of those choices (though Family from Dreamgirls is the best of the list). The Wiz has such a distinct sound, I would sing a 70s blues/funk song (something by Sly and the Family Stone, perhaps), unless the audition notice stipulates that material has to be from a musical. If it has to be from a musical--try something from Hair that can showcase your voice. Even a gospel song would be better than a Stephen Schwartz song.

Anything would be better than a Stephen Schwartz song. Though I particularly love "Endless Night" and my ears would pop up if someone came in and sang that for an audition. But, that's just me.
