I am absolutely in love with the 1959 musical The Nervous Set but can't find the sheet music anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Not everything was published.   See if you can find who holds the rights, they may be able to help.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Is it weird if I can't find who owns the rights anywhere

I wouldn't call it weird. It's an obscure flop by three long-dead, semi-obscure writers. The Landesmans (book & lyrics) have two living sons, perhaps they own the rights.

The Nervous Set was originally produced in St Louis in 1959 (were is was a huge hit) before its short time on Broadway.

There have been two revivals in St Louis that I know of.

The long gone Theater Factory produced it in 1984.

New Line Theatre produced it in 2003-2004.

I would contact Scott Miller at New Line Theatre about how he secured the rights and materials.

I somewhat remember that Hope Wurdack got the rights for the Theater Factory production directly from the Landesmans, but that was a long, long time ago.

For an even more deep dive, Jay Landesman's personal papers are held by the State Historical Society of Missouri

I agree, an obscure show from 50 years ago may not be held by anyone.

If none of the above advice pans out, contact Michael Levine at broadwaymhl@aol.com.
