I wouldn't be shocked by anything. From the limited exposure I've had to all of the nominated shows, I'd say that every actor is deserving and every show is worthy. They've all worked their tails off. I'm happy for whoever wins. :)

My shocker that could happen would be a Piazza upset in the Best Musical category. If Christina Applegate beats Clark, watch for Piazza to take Best Musical. Just my opinion...think it might happen.

I have to agree with Kyle33 and others who say that the Tony's are really about politics and economics, rather than performance. Several people deserve a nod over Christina, but who can say who will actually win? "Avenue Q" last year was certianly a surprise, and if it had to do with performance, I'm sorry, I still don't think Gary Beach's performance in "La Cage" was of award caliber. I don't think it compares well to other nominees, such as Norbert Leo Butz. But we'll see what the voters say.

I'll be shocked if Applegate does NOT get the Tony. The committee is lacking in anything resembling cognitive reasoning. I think Gleason will beat Ramirez. Foster doesn't have a shot, so that would be shocking.

I disagree with everything you said Al Dente. The female leading category is so tough, I'll be shocked no matter who gets it. And I will be devastated if Ramirez doesn't win, that girl is truly amazing. And I also DO believe that Foster has a shot. Ever since the show debuted, all anyone talked about was how the show was weak but how Sutton may have another Tony coming her way...

I still think Clark and Butz are both locks. Now that Maxwell took the Drama Desk (and Ramirez wasn't even nominated!), that race is wider than before (given that the rest of the nominees also have legitimate shotS).
I think the biggest surprise (but not upsetting to me in the least) will be Piazza or DRS winning Best Musical.
