...if you did, count yourself lucky.
Apparantly they limited public sales today to one location for only two hours. Or maybe there was something I missed? Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they announce it's return to Cinncinati soon... seems a lot of the other cities the tour visited are already selling Wicked tickets for 2007!
The Cinncinati Post
We tried to get get tickets today and NOTHING would go through. Not even one ticket...I can see why now. I think we're just going to plan a trip to trip to Chicago later on; I've already seen the tour, and I've heard good things about Kristy Cates.
Did anyone here get tickets this morning?

It's the madness!

They sold them at the box office exclusively at 8:00am this morning and then opened it up to the 'net and phone lines at 10:00am. That Wicked fever is sweeping through the Ohio River!
I think the biggest reason the tickets sold so fast is because for the first time in a long time the Broadway Series in Cincy is doing a lot of promoting for their key show of the series. Despite the growing popularity of the Arts in Cincy, Broadway Series just hasn't been doing too hot and the Aronoff Center has been losing a lot of money lately. I'm sure they saw Wicked (surely the most popular musical to come through Cincy in a long time) as a way to boost ticket sales and perhaps revive some interest.
I dont think it is the promotion of wicked but rather wicked itself.
I agree that promotion had a lot to do with it, because people that I know aren't familiar with shows at all have been talking about it the last couple of weeks or so. I know there's been a lot of promotion for it in and around Lexington. There was a big ad in the Sunday paper and they did a whole feature on it in the Arts & Life section a few weeks back.
I also think when you add that promotion to people who are familiar with the show, it just exploded in a huge demand for tickets.
As I said in a thread yesterday, I would encourage those who could to catch the show in Chicago. Last month I got tix for the end of March on a weekend in the balcony. That same week, I could have gotten orchestra seats for a weeknight performance. I also believe the Oriental is smaller than most of the houses "Wicked" is playing in on the road. There are also scenic and production elements that are not possible on the road, such as Elphaba entering through the stage floor in "No Good Deed." Though I was lucky enough to get Cincy tickets, I can say that I've enjoyed "Wicked" more in Chicago than on the road.
