Come Spirit, Come Charm is... well, not nearly as charming as it was when I first saw this show in the early 90s.

Yeah, the Ayah/Fakir stuff is pretty cringy. I’m probably going to significantly trim “Come Spirit, Come Charm.” If they do do a revival on Broadway, they should cut those characters entirely.

I do think star casting could sell tickets in a smaller theater. But as much as I like the score, I agree that the divide between the adults and the kids isn't bridged well. I saw both of the recent-ish concert productions and the adult plot was the one that seemed out of place. I can see where you could bulk it up but you need the children's plot for the resolution and most of the stuff about... you know, the actual secret garden. This is likely influenced by the concerts, but I'm okay with keeping the love triangle and cutting India and the ghosts (with the exception of Lily). I could not figure out what was going on with them anyway.
I can see the argument that the music is out of fashion but I'm not sure it's more dated than many other revivals.
