Here's an interesting post.
Out of all the Broadway Shows, Tours and such, who is the worst person to step into the role of your favorite shows.
Toni Bankrupt, I mean Braxton as Belle in Beauty and the Beast (I didn't see her but I saw a pic of the hoed-out Belle, how insulting.)
Patrick Cassidy was bad as Radames in National Tour of Aida.
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of right now. Come people, inspire me... lol

No contest.
David Hasselhoff in Jekyll & Hyde. The only thing good I can say is at least he didn't take his shirt off in this one. Just awful.

Sebastian Bach as...anything, lol
I saw JCS, he was horrible.
A friend saw Jeckyll and Hyde, he was probably worse at that
I can say he might have been good as Riff Raff, that's ok.

No, Sebastian Bach wasn't good as Riff Raff, either. He could sing it, I guess, but he was always just playing himself, really.

He's no actor, but Sebastian Bach was better than Jack Wagner or David Hasselhoff in Jekyll. He looked great in the clothes and sang the hell out of it.
I agree with Albin, hands down it has to be David Hesselhoff in "Jekyll And Hyde"!!!!! He was so bad, that it funny, I always laugh when I watch him sing something from J/H, he's so annoying!

kinda sad since colleen sexton was rather good, and the silly fact that J&H will forever be on record with Hasselhoff.
Yet another reason they should always record the original cast even if they don't plan to release the tape. Cuz years down the line you might want to and you have a mediocre cast that won't do it justice.
And Toni Bankrupt, I mean Braxton wants to have her performance taped for AIDA, lol! ya right
No one has mentioned Melanie Griffith yet! I haven't seen her, but I can imagine how bad she is. Even so, I can't judge, so she ain't on my list. I, actually don't have a list. I have never seen a show where someone that bad has played one of my favorite roles. I didn't like Roger's understudy in Rent, Chad Richardson, but that's really the extent of it.

oh oh, i saw Cabaret the National Tour and was supposed to see Teri Hatcher but saw her understudy instead who had this amazing resume. Side By Side, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miz... Yah, she was the most god aweful horrible , frumpy potato-scak wearing, performer or singer on earth! Her name was Diane Fratantoni, I believ she was Amalia in She loves Me in NYC, god she sucked as Sally, and I was actually excited to see a broadway veteran as Sally instead of TV personality Teri Hatcher, then I wished I had seen Teri!
How can you pick Toni Braxton if you didn't even SEE her in the role? My pic...Michael Crawford in Dance of the Vampires. Updated On: 7/14/03 at 05:52 PM

The worst performance I've ever seen by professional actor was Robert Goulet in a revival of CAMELOT. His timing was off, his voice was cracking etc. I felt sorry for his co-star, and wife at the time, Carol Lawrence.
I vowed at the time never to pay money to see him again. Fast forward to 2003. He stars in a revival of SOUTH PACIFIC and gets great reviews. Being a fair minded person I decided to see the show.
He was sick that day and his standby went on and was excellent.
Ah show business...You gotta love it!!
LINK: Tracy, you look beautiful behind bars!
TRACY: It must be the low-watt institutional lighting!
I whole-heartedly agree that my list includes Braxton (hoed out Belle, lol!) Hasselhoff (thou if you closed your eyes, u'd swear it was Stevie Nicks....ba-a-a-a!) and Bach (whose only real talent can be found in a bottle of conditioner), I'd also include --
The Mackie gowns deserved top billing for the recent tour of Best Little Whorehouse instead of Ann-Margret, since they were the real stars of the show.
Both Liza and Rachel proved that there was no replacing Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria. I just wish that Julie had a show worthy of what may be her last Broadway musical.
Ben Vereen really brought Fosse down and made the show alot less magical for me than when I saw the original cast.
Debbie Gibson in Les Miz. I didn't think Eponine was supposed to sing thru her nose.
Ally Sheedy in Hedwig -- Even Melanie Griffith as Roxie makes more sense.
Lou Gossett Jr in Chicago, thou if he were in it now, it would be fun to bet on who would run off the stage in fear first.
Stuggling film-makers (Rent), crafty lawyers (Chicago),and student revolutionaries (Les Miz) should never be cast from boy bands. That kind of pre-fab talent should be kept to Radio Disney.
Just my opinion.....
I saw Robert Goulet in South Pacific when it went through San Francisco. He did go on, but he was all the things you describe about his performance in the Camelot revival. He doesn't have the voice he once did. The rest of the performers did very well, but I was quite disappointed with Goulet.

We all may have spoke too soon. Front page on this site says William Shatner eyeing part in Urinetown??? There goes another one, right in the toilet!!!!

...no way.... lol
I know you're kidding about William Shatner, right? LOL
Look at the top news story on this site to the left.
I think he'd be a riot. The role requires a ham. And he's a total ham.
Well, this one is very obscure, but it's the first that came to my mind. In the recent production of The Women, Heather Matarazzo played the role of the housekeeper. She's a remarkable young actress. I think she's fabulous, and one of my favorite actresses. But totally wrong in that role.
Oh, and of course, th8r phan, Ally Sheedy as Hedwig! How can I forget? I was there for that whole fiasco!!!!!!

Ally Sheedy was in Hedwig? Dear god...
Lou Gossett Jr only played like TWO performances in Chicago....
Melanie as Roxie, hands down.

I'm not to fond of Amanda Huddleston as Cosette in the US tour of Les Mis.
Tendres Baisers,
Juliette Capulet
I don't get to see too many shows being a West Coaster but Patrick Cassidy in the Aida tour as Radames was pitiful! He was really just bad!
The8re phan...
You didn't know that Eponine was supposed to be sung through the nose?? Have you heard Frances Rufelle? Her singing is TERRIBLE, and never does it stray from being 100% nasal and whiny.
Listen to Lea Salonga for the only version of "On My Own" that is well sung.

Okay I would have to say that there are two people who stand out to me....One of them of course is David Hasselhoff in J&H.......i really thougth he was just wrong for that part. And the other one is James Carpinello (I hope I spelled his last name right) as Tony in Saturday Night Fever. I thought he was just to stiff to play a person who is supposed to be a great dancer.......jmo
