I was in this store Saturday and the shop owner got really upset someone took a picture inside the store. Anyone know why?

I'd sooner chew on my hat than say mean things about people, but I went to Theatre Circle and the shop owner also gave me a bad attitude. I simply asked if one of his items was priced incorrectly because I'd seen it cheaper in another store. He snapped at me, "Then go buy it somewhere else."
I won't be returning anytime soon...

Wow.. That is something else. I was just wondering why you cannot take a picture in the store and why he got so mad that a young girl did with her friends. I was near them when it happened and they were in all honesty not doing anything wrong, she just wanted a picture of her hold a Falsettos' cup.

Let me preface this with I am not fond of the staff in Theater Circle, they definitely are not concerned with friendly customer service, having said that the people they must have to deal with based on how dreadful we know theater goers have become would be a valid reason.
BUT it is common practice in most businesses of any kind that you can't take photos. The mom and pop store to Target, doesn't matter. I'm sure people do it but it is frowned upon.
It is a business not a personal prop shop for instagram photo shoots. I'm going to guess she didn't buy the cup right? Then she is in the wrong here and he as a business owner has the right to say something....albeit maybe more professionally.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that shop have signs that say no photography as you enter?

I would imagine they don't want people to go in the store and "showroom", as in checking out the merchandise and then buying it cheaper online, which is easier to do when you take pictures of what you want. I wanted a book they had on display in the front window on 44th Street but they were out of them so they arranged to have a staff member from the Shubert alley shop hold it for me till after my show. Like another poster said, I'm sure they deal with rude entitled people all the time. I kind of enjoy that New York attitude from shopkeepers like that. It's refreshing.

I think the girl had intention to buy the cup up until the moment she got yelled at and then left the store kinda upset.
Im not sure about the signs, I never really looked for them.
If you are not allowed to take pictures in the store, Id at least walk over to the person and say something nicely and quietly and not yell clear across the store in the tone that was used. I just wondered if that was a regular moment with the staff, or a rare moment of someone having a bad day.
