Wonderful article. If memory serves.me the national tour launched in San.Francisco. Met with great critical acclaim and was embraced by all the bay area cities. So thrilling to have experienced it at the beginning.

Indeed, the 1st U.S. National Tour launched at the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco. It played from May 29 to September 1, 1984 so it had a nice 3 month sit down before heading to Los Angeles for another lengthy run at the Pantages Theatre. It ran there from September 11, 1984 to May 26, 1985 - an almost 9 month run! Walter Charles played Albin and Keith Mitchell played Georges. A 2nd National Tour led by Peter Marshall and Keene Curtis opened 3 months in (December 12, 1984) and played other major cities doing full week to 4 week stops.
