Hello!
I figured since we will be getting such wonderful theatrical offerings this fall from PBS I should start a thread focusing on "Theatre: Close-Up". I have not watched it yet, but I did record the Mint's "London Wall", which I believe was the first episode of this series.

What were your thoughts on it? From what I did see (max 5 mins) it seemed there was canned laughter which I don't like, but I can easily get over that. Very excited shows like this will get recorded.

Hope this idea can last!

I wish these were nationwide so I could see them on my local PBS, but alas: "“There’s a five-year window, and only four airings,” says Bank of the agreement with WNET. “And it’s all local—even the online streaming is ‘geofiltered,’ so you can’t stream this in Chicago.”"

Woah... I was unaware about that...
What a shame! Especially the streaming. I don't see the point of that.

PBS varies it's line up in non-major markets. Sweeney Todd premiered where I live on a Sunday around 4:00pm. On Friday, when it appeared in most markets we had reruns of the latest Ken Burns documentary and Antiques Road Show.

I Tivo'd London Wall and I'm in the middle of Act 2. I'm really enjoying it. I think the performances and casting are great. The camera work seems very good. It definitely sounds to me like a live audience (I'm listening through headphones and can hear very well). This series is a wonderful way to catch up with shows you might have missed. I'm set to record Hellman Vs. McCarthy next. I did see the four Apple shows at the Public, and it will be interesting to compared the filmed versions. I hope this trend catches on!

If you're not in the NYC area, you can probably get around the online "geo-filtering" by using a proxy server...
