For thespians this year, for my senior year Im aiming to do a comedic song and as you may or may not know, all songs for thespians must be from a musical. No revues. Which SUCKS because I heard some songs I really liked but they werent from musicals (neither is The Girl In 14G). So Im thinking of doing "Too Pretty" by Katie Thompson. I cant seem to find alot of info on the song, some people are saying its from "R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical" but when I look up the soundtrack, "Too Pretty" isnt on there. Its actually referred to as one of Katie Thompsons "trunk songs" (I have no idea what that is) ! Could anyone offer me some clarity on this subject? If not, do you know any other comedic female solos from musicals? My range covers a low alto to a high soprano , please help !
What the heck is thespians?? I thought "thespian" was just a term for theatrical performers?
Ah. The egocentric teenager that believes everyone believes in their world.
It's a performance competition, but I can't remember if it's single or multi state wide. It may be part of the International Thespian Society which is a national organization.
Ohhh, back when I was in high school we went to an ITS festival, but it wasn't called Thespians. Since you have a magical range of low alto to high soprano, you should do Glitter and Be Gay!
She's referring to the District Thespian Festival. Each state is divided in districts and high schools within those districts compete in IE's (individual events) like Solo Musical Number, Duet, Small Group, Large Group, Monologue, Duet, Ensembe Acting and a bunch of technical categories. OP could've been more precise by just saying it was for a theater competition, which it is. I know a lot because I'm a member of my HS's troupe and we compete in these competitions.
