They're Playing Our Song

Ewwww!
Love them both, but don't think they would have great chemistry together.
I would love to see a rotating cast of the two leads....call it stunt casting if you want, and put up some pairs that would make sense and have broad appeal:
Some Fun Sonya's:
Karen Ziemba
Jane Krakowski
Christine Baranski
Megan Mulallhy
Some Fun Vernon's:
Malcolm Gets
Jon Cryer
Eric McCormack
David Hyde Pierce

Posted: 12/31/05 at 4:39pmMeghan and Eric would bring in big bucks. It would be vrey interesting to see. But Nathan and Jessica could pull it off beautifully. Jessica has a sweet voice that is perfect for the role. And Nathan can bring so much to Neil Simon's rather bland character. They're perfect!

Which would be very promotable.
If Simon wanted to tackle some alterations and open up (or remove) the ethnic slant, then how about
Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel!

Idina and Taye wouldnt be a draw to anyone but Theater Fans.
Personally, this is my FAVORITE show and I think Catherine Zeta Jones & Michael Douglas would be fantastic in the roles.

I saw a regional revival of this Marvin Hamlisch play and the songs are oh...so memorable -"Fallin", "If He Really Knew Me", "I Still Believe In Love"...I do hope it gets staged again on Broadway, maybe update a bit? I'd vote for Lea Salonga to play the neurotic Sonia Walsk and Matthew Morrison to play Vernon Gersch.

um...Taye has a pretty decent movie career going and Idina is a Tony Winner....doesn't that count for anything?

I love Nathan Lane in pretty much everything. Hey so not completley related, but I was watching "The Lion King" the other day (the Disney animated movie) and realized that Matthew Broderick does the voice of the older Simba. Never knew that. He and Lane must be quite good friends :).

Posted: 1/2/06 at 7:43amGreat idea - Broadway really needs ANOTHER revival of a tired, dated Neil Simon show, as if SWEET CHARITY, ODD COUPLE and BAREFOOT IN THE PARK isn't enough!
