It's done with projections now - IIRC, the show would do new stuff on tour or subsequent productions then occasionally push them back into the broadway production (usually for cost or maintenance reasons - although artistic reasons too i'm sure).

It's too frickin' green. I swear I saw green for days after.
Also the show makes me upset the way it sets up THE WIZARD OF OZ.
There's about 20 minutes of good theatre and the rest is pretty much dreck.
