In the next 10-15 years we will likely lose Liza, Patti, Betty Buckley and Bernadette Mar 15 2026, 09:37:04 PM
How fun! Do it for men too.

Ben Platt & Rachel Zegler - THE LAST FIVE YEARS (NYC/LA) Feb 3 2026, 11:25:17 AM
I'd love to see this for Zegler, but he makes a bit of vomit rise in my throat whenever I see him.

GYPSY revival cd release Sep 28 2025, 01:20:48 AM
The cd of GYPSY (2025) is one of those flimsy, ugly digipacks. We should be thankful for the booklet but there is no title notation on the black spine. I'm flashing when WB finally released Prince's The Black Album. At least that still comes in a jewel case. This GYPSY is going to get lost amongst my other GYPSY. The cd sounds great but the package is cheap.

Yes I did. You've heard of Peppa Pig? This is her great grandmother Patti Pig.

HARRY POTTER - or what I call HARRY POTTER GOES VEGAS
SOFT POWER - an awful 1st act
LES MIZ - recent National Tour
MISS SAIGON - 1st National Tour
HADESTOWN - not for me.
ADVENTURE OF PRISCILLA QUEEN... that bus....ugh.
I'm sure there were more.
One other point, I've never walked out of a Stoppard play.

STEPHEN SONDHEIM'S OLD FRIENDS Previews Mar 28 2025, 07:26:44 PM
I cried at "Sunday" too when I saw it in LA. I won the Today Tix lottery and sat front row for $20. I loved the show! So many great moments.

OTHELLO Previews Feb 25 2025, 08:31:51 PM
In 2001 saw Uta Hagen with David Hyde Pierce in Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks at the Westwood Playhouse in Los Angeles. I lost count of how many times she called LINE. It was very odd and I was a bit scared for her. She was 82. She fell off the stage into the audience latter in the run. Sometimes it would have been better to have stayed home. That would go for Miss Hagen and I.

Patti LuPone called a privileged, racially microaggressive bully by Hell's Kitchen cast member Nov 4 2024, 07:41:16 PM
binau said: "https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Tony-Winner-Kecia-Lewis-Calls-Out-Patti-LuPone-For-Calling-HELLS-KITCHEN-Too-Loud-20241102
Apparently her giving flowers to the Hell's Kitchen team is also bullying.
Look, Patti LuPone can be a bit of an ass but it's obvious what is going on here - she is a cranky old woman starring in a quiet play that is sharing a wall with what I assume to be a heavy amplified production. I guarantee that if AMERICAN IDIOT was there it would get the same treatment. Why do we have to bring race into everything all the time?
It's called macro as in small, minor. So miniscule you have to look super hard for it. Get over it and sing your song.

Faye Dunaway - Sunset Blvd Sep 5 2023, 01:58:21 PM
I went the final week at the Shubert: Los Angeles to see the show for the third time. There was an unusually long Cancellation Line that night. Turns out that was the day Dunaway was let go and there was a sudden demand for tickets before it closed.

How's the current POTO West End cast (Robyns/Hull)? Jul 26 2023, 06:43:33 PM
So slow, Helen Keller could have run from it with no problem.

TRANSPARENT musical (based on the TV series) to premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in 2023, directed by Tina Landau Jul 14 2023, 01:37:49 PM
I saw it in LA and it is terrible. Only someone looking for a Tax Write-Off would invest in this mess.

SWEENEY TODD Revival announces further casting Feb 27 2023, 02:31:58 AM
I saw the 1984 production and remember it was exactly the same as the Broadway production but with more trained voices. I had already seen the original cast twice and this time around was my least favorite.
I looked up the second time NYOC did the show and was surprised Elaine Paige played Mrs. Lovett. Here's a clip of her "Best Pies in London."

Repeat Visits To Shows Feb 24 2019, 02:51:58 PM
I've seen THE BOOK OF MORMON 27 times. I paid full price 3 times and won the lottery 24 times. I live close to the theatre so it's nothing for me to go down for the drawing. There's only about 3 times where the show was off which was usually the fault of various understudies for the Elder Cunningham role I've seen. BOM isn't my favorite show, but it's a damn fine one and a fun, funny night at the theatre. Just hearing the audience react to it is worth it.

Favourite scene transitions? Dec 31 2018, 01:46:09 PM
The first thing I thought was the the transition in GYPSY from the younger to older performers. Even the movie and TV version use it it's so great. No special effects - just a simple strobe. Brilliant!
