Posted: 12/19/04 at 7:37pmWell, as a very devoted Sutton fan, I'm not going to be ashamed of gushing over her appropriately. I know I'm going to love Little Women insanely. I could, very possibly, go all fangirl on Sutton.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 7:42pmI know she won a Tony but so did Marissa Jaret Winokur and she also sings through her nose horribly and I just cannot stand that sound. I think Sutton is talented but why do so many Broadway singers like that nazal tone? I think it gets so boring. I know Winokur sings that way cause she doesn't know how to sing and thats all she can do but Sutton at least sounds trained and should do non-nazal tone. hmm

Posted: 12/19/04 at 7:43pmI think you guys are getting worried over nothing. Who cares if a bunch of bitter queens on this site bitch and moan? It wont hurt her career or anything.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 7:44pmWell, Pj, no one's invaded on our thread here yet telling us to shut up, so that's a plus. As you said, it's probable inevitable though. It's frustrating when people are excessive with the praise for a truly talented performer and he or she becomes a bit of a joke.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 7:44pmI'm definitely worried about shill,s even thought I am sort of one.

bronxbound, although I admit, no matter how much i love her, that marissa sings through her nose as well, but don't you agree that that really added to her character in Hairspray?

Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:30pmI know what you mean. It's only harder for me because I sort of know how much better Katy Grenfell was in that part and how she was next in line for the part after Winokur. I think Winokur sings so hard thourgh her nose that its an unpleasant sound esspecially in the Baltimore reprise. I think theres a way to sound young but have a nice nutural tone as well. This new girl Cary Jibson? I think pulls that off well.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:34pmhmm perhaps. Did you see Marissa in "Beautiful Girl"? She was singing a lot less through her nose, and it was actually very pretty-sounding.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:35pmI like Sutton and think she is a force to be reckoned with. Bronx, have you ever seen her live?
#60re: This 'Sutton Foster' person
Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:36pmNo I have not seen her live. only the intro to the website and it sounded anoying. I do not know what beautiful girl is.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:39pmBeautiful Girl is this ABC movie that Marissa starred in. I acutally liked it and she sounded great in it.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:39pmTrust me. Those Little Women snippets do not sound ANYTHING like the actual show. Her voice is great in the show and you should see it. I think you will enjoy it and possibly change your opinion.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 8:59pmI have never, ever detected a nasal quality to Sutton's voice. I think that's actually one of the things I adore about her, because I find her voice so refreshing.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 9:00pmI just have to say again how I don't like Broadway voices that sound "Broadway." lol I did hear her at the Broadway concert in Sept and thought she sounded the same.
#66re: This 'Sutton Foster' person
Posted: 12/19/04 at 9:01pmhmm okay then, what voice on Broadway do you like?

SHE ROBBED KRISTIN!
okay sorry
#69re: This 'Sutton Foster' person
Posted: 12/19/04 at 9:05pmOh, let's not get into the Kristin/Idina argument. Anyone with clear sight could see that Menzel deserved the Tony at least over Chenoweth.

Posted: 12/19/04 at 9:07pmOKay I'll just shut up then before I get into this. I guess I just don't have clear sight.
