I am so freaking jealous of his summers abroad. Just gets to swim around town soaking in the luxuries of the West End (and beyond), then break-it-down into CliffsNotes versions for us trapped on the other side of the Pond.

I did a 3-week London theater binge in January and realized what I've been missing all these theatergoing years.
I'm thinking about doing it again...provided there are shows I want to see.

If youve been reading his Postcards from London, there is PLENTY of great stuff to see:

A few weeks ago, he compiled his thoughts on the Musicals there (including Priscilla, Thriller and La Cage)

Posted: 7/19/09 at 7:48pmI saw a whole mess of stuff: La Cage, Sunset Blvd., Piaf, Twelfth Night, Oliver, Carousel, War Horse (act I), Edward Scissorhands and more that I can't really remember.

Posted: 7/19/09 at 7:56pmThe puppetry was glorious. But I found the play itself to be like watching paint dry. Granted, I had bought a standing room ticket for a 5-er. If I were sitting, I'd have stayed.

See him turn in other great performances in the films Angels and Insects, and Intimacy.

"During my month in London I kept hearing "Jerusalem,"...
...fast becoming an alternative national anthem (it's even roared out at soccer games)"
Wrong. Jerusalem has been a second national anthem for donkeys' years. It's fast becoming a national cliche - that's why Mr Brantley heard it so much.
