What does everyone think about these recordings of the shows?
Each show has two recordings. Are you referring to any in particular?

They are both amazing..I don't really know what you actually want to discuss about them...
Passion superb in terms of the editing. You get an excellent sense of the stagecraft and the intimacy of the performances.
I haven't seen the Sunday DVD yet.
Passion was not filmed in front of an audience a la Into The Woods, so it does seem very intimate and you forget you are watching a stage production. I do know they made some changes to the staging, particularly in the opening scene, however it does not affect the quality of the show in any way. So if you like the show, it is a very good recording to have.
^ What other changes were made to the opening besides covering Marin's breasts?

What I sometimes wonder about PASSION is, if there was an audience, where would laughs (if any) be?
I remember on the Patti!Passion that she got a few (maybe more nervous than genuine laughing) e.g. when referring to Clara as her 'competition'.
I also wonder how much better the show might seem with a stronger Giorgio. Norm Lewis in SOS gave some kind of glimpse of what that might have been like.

Kinda unrelated, but kinda not: why was the Lincoln Center recording of A Little Night Music never released on DVD?
I'm pretty sure Donna Murphy has said in interviews that Fosca was not very well received, and that there was applause when she fainted.
(on a side note, they made Patti SIGNIFICANTLY uglier than Donna was ever made up. Donna's Fosca was more plain than ugly.)
Because it's a Lincoln Center recording. The contracts that are signed are only for the broadcasts, not a later release.
