I just saw a college production of The Laramie Project that one of my friends was in....it was AWESOME@! They did something really really cool with these 5 huge triangular prisms that made the back wall of the set....they made an abstract picture of a small town, and then in the second act the cast rotated them at different times to make a picture of the fence...then, at the very end, after the last line, they turned all five to reveal the third side. it made a wall of a mirror, then they brought the house lights up and had the quote "We ARE like this." on the wall!! The audience just sat there staring at themselves in a huge mirror...it was amazing! I just had to share!

sounds like a cool production. I like the show quite a bit. I think a cast does have to be careful not to come off a little smarmy.
There is so much room for creativity in staging this play.

I LOVE this show - I've seen it twice in LA, both at different theatres, but with the same cast and creative team (and directed by my favorite LA director)
and it's EXTREMELY moving.
