Did they ever release a cast album of this show with Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper? I'll take a DVD if not.
thx!

No they never did as the run was too short to permit such an expense.
The good, the bad, and the ugly of Roundabout's production is online on a particular website. I recommend beginning with the search term "Cyndi Lauper in ThreePenny Opera part 1"
"The good, the bad, and the ugly..."
Yeah, methinks that was going to be my only option. Thanks.

The length of the run had nothing to do with it. Shows with much shorter runs have been recorded. Personally, I quite liked a lot of the production, particularly the performances of Lauper, Jim Dale, and Nellie McKay, whom I thought was divine. Wallace Shawn's translation had many head-scratching moments ("A guy can crush all men / beneath his heel / Say I'm a butcher / Others are just veal," anyone?), Cumming seemed ill-at-ease, and the way they handled making Mac and Brown's relationship overtly homoerotic was often laughable, but a lot of the individual performances and a few great staging moments made up for it. Definitely look on YouTube and judge for yourself.
I loved this revival, and was so sad to see it close without a recording.

Yes, AC but this show was strictly a limited run. And people accossiated with the show have said as much.
First time I ever saw Nellie McKay. Riveting.
If I recall correctly, McKay's performance was rather polarizing--some (myself included) absolutely loved her, while others thought she was downright awful. She was awarded a Theatre World Award for her performance.
