Posted: 6/18/06 at 7:16pmSo, I think I am using TDF $33 tickets and bringing three friends to see 3penny on wednesday! I am excited. I have not yet seen it. Here is my question, do people come out after the matinee and where is the studio 54 stage door? Thanks so much!

Posted: 6/18/06 at 7:55pmThis is terrible! The tickets are gone from TDF!

Posted: 6/18/06 at 8:02pmWell you could do the last row of the theatre but the sound is pretty crappy, especially with Nellie McKay and Jim Dale's announciation or lack of.

Posted: 6/18/06 at 8:23pmThe last row is still like 50 am I right? and I don't want to make my friends pay a lot, because we are on a student budget. Is there student rush or any kind of rush? We could always go in and try for that?

Posted: 6/18/06 at 8:28pmWell from what I heard the last day of the show *June 25* they are having student rush
#8re: Thrreepenny Opera Wednesday!
Posted: 6/18/06 at 8:48pmYeah but we'd like to go wednesday cause we are all free and finals will have just ended the day before. So, yeah. It's a dilemma.

Posted: 6/18/06 at 9:11pmOkay so if its okay with them, then I think that's what we will end up doing. I will call the box office tomorrow to check. If worse comes to worse, I could get Hot Feet on TDF but I don't know if I am that desperate. I mean its a sure deal, but I think I'd hate it. I don't know about my friends, cause they aren't theatre geeks are rarely go to shows. What have you guys though of hot feet?

Don't waste your money or time on 3Penny. Despite the ideal cast (though not at their best in this show), you will leave the theatre angry...and not the way Brecht wants you to. If you do go, the stage door is on 53rd Street.
Take your friends to Avenue Q or Drowsy Chaperone. Theatremania is offering discounts to many shows right now and its free to join.

Don't let the negative opinions scare you away from a show you might be mad that you missed. Go see for yourself.
I went last Wednesday and they had rush. I want to go again this Wednesday

Posted: 6/19/06 at 1:37amIf you are under 18 you can get half price tickets anytime in advance. If you are a student 18 or older you can get half price tix half hour before curtain-always available-. Or you could line up in the monring and they will sell rear mezzanine seats for $25--it's either student or general rush--I'm not 100% sure.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 6:56amOkay so I am going to talk to my friends about it, we are all students just under 18, so we should be okay, and we will get the 25 dollar tickets. If all is well, I will be there wednesday!

Your main concern seems to be saving money and going to the stage door. Why not just skip the show (as I'm positive you wouldn't "get" it) and just go to the stage door

lol, thanks for your concern, and thank you for undermining my intelligence. I studied Socialist Ethics this year, which is why I do look forward to seeing this show. You have some issues if you have to post comments like that. I am sure half of the board would support me in the fact that as a student, I would like to save money, and as a theatre fan, I would like to see the show. My post concerns these two topics. People might get annoyed if I prate for hours about how I want to see the show. I am going to the show, because I want to see it. Your lack of understanding amazes me.
Criticism aside, I will be going wednesday student rush. I am looking forward to it.

I'm glad you won't let others opinions sway you. If you want to see it, go. Can't wait to hear what your opinion is.
As for the rude comment about you not "get"ing it, the biggest problem with the show was that the director himself didn't "get" it. (But that is just my opinion)
Let us know what you think after you see it!

Of course, I will have a full review and pictures from the stage door, as always
.
P.S. What time do you think we should get to the box office for student rush for the wednesday matinee?
Thanks.

i went last wed matinee, and had no problem getting general rush tickets (which are released from the time the box office opens) and I think they were $26.25 . They're rear mezzanine seats, but the theater is so small it's a great view. One piece of advice is I wouldn't sit in the first row b/c there's a bar in the way - try to sit second row. Student tix are released 30 min before performance, which gives you a chance at orchestra seats, but rear mezzanine was fine.
i had mixed expectations b/c some people seemed to hate it, but i loved it! nellie mckay, cyndi lauper, and jim dale were standouts for me. great social commentary and satire, it's very different from what you'll see on broadway. ask an usher about stage door and the usher I asked gave me very detailed instructions on how to get there. alan cumming comes out fairly quickly after matinee (i almost missed him after waiting in line for the bathroom), nellie mckay took the longest to come out but she eventually did. they will most likely come out to say hello to their fans.
have fun! wish i could see it again~
