So, I've been trying to get tix to all the Spring shows.
Which is surprising. Here's the thing: I'm a musical fan, not a straight play fan. But I already have tix to 9 to 5, and Story of My Life.
I am very intrigued by the straight plays coming into town, specifically, "Impressionism," "33 Variations," and "Blithe Spirit."
I went on line, to search for tix to all of the above, plus Off-Broadway stuff like "Becky Shaw."
CRAP TICKETS AVAILABLE. I got decent (although not great seats) for "Impressionism."
But every other show? NO GOOD SEATS. "Blithe Spirit" offered me great seats for $350.00.
Really? In this economy, are "premium" seats still an option?
I'm holding out. I assume good seats will become available.
Am I crazy for assuming this?
While the "Blithe Spirit" cast is TERRIFIC, are they really selling so many tix that they can't offer peeps good seats?
Just asking. Any input would be appreciated.
2nd Stage (Becky Shaw) is really small. Not a bad seat anywhere really.
And....if all the "good seats" ARE truly gone, then yes...they can try to hold out for folks to purchase the premium seats at whatever price. Often THOSE seats are sold for regular price on the day OF from the box office.
Have ALL the tix been released? No way to tell, that I know of. But it is worth continual checking. Are you trying to pay full price or are you using a discount code? Many placed LIMIT discount tix to certain seats and/or a certain NUMBER of tix available per performance at a discount.
I got great seats for 33 Variations for mid Feb...which I purchased less than 2 weeks ago.
Rule #1 of commercial ticket sales:
Sell the worst seats first.
Give people the impression that all the good seats are selling out, and that they better buy their tickets soon, because before they know it, they'll all be gone.
As the performance date gets closer, better seats will be released, with the absolute best being sold on the day of the performance, usually two and a half to three hours prior to curtain. These are the released premium seats.
