Time Square Broadway Show Billboard Question

I see the HAIRSPRAY and WICKED logo billboards have light up functions on them in Time Square- What happens when one blows or when the billboard needs cleaning.

I just wonder the most random things.

There are companies that handle the outdoor advertising and billboards that you see in New York. In most cases, the Times Square billboards are built and maintained by a company called Artkraft Strauss.

What light effect does the Wicked billboard have? I know the Hairspray one has the letters light up, but I didn't know the Wicked billboard did anything (are you talking about the one near the Rent and Phantom billboards, up at the north end of Times Square?).

The words WICKED light up and the little witch on top of the I glows.
