I recently purchased a ticket to see an event at TimesCenter. I am not familiar with the setup of this event. How big is the room? Do the featured personality get to talk to the audience? Are we allowed to get autographs or photo's?

It's a rather large auditorium, cold, impersonal in only the way the Times knows how to create.
It's just an interview. What are you seeing?
By the way - who is that in your avatar?
I am seeing the Billy Elliot interview w/Stephen Daldry
my avatar is Allison Janey

That's ce.
As yankeefan said it is a fairly sterile auditorium. The seating is generally not assigned so the earlier you get there the better. I saw the Doubt panel with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John Patrick Shanley there this past December. I would recommend trying to find a seat towards the center rather than forward, as they are grouped in the center of a very wide stage so you might be able to see very well if you're quite far over, especially if you're towards the front.
