I'll be there -- look for me; I'd love to meet some of you (who I don't already know)...
I have short red hair -- right above my shoulders and I'll be wearing black flare pants, a red top and a long black dress jacket which makes me look like Im straight out of the Matrix. Knowing me, I'll probably have on dark mirrored sunglasses. Im pretty hard to miss even in a large crowd lol
:)
Also, if Chicago just happens to perform something which involves having both 'Roxie' (Tracy Shayne) and 'Velma' (Roxane Carrasco) onstage, just look for the girl who fits the above description and is screaming and cheering wildly :) That'd be me!

Posted: 6/3/03 at 2:25pmYou should be good to go... it only lasts until about 1/1:15pm if even that long.. all the stars have to get back to their respective theatres for the matinees. I'm seeing the Chicago matinee, because clearly I am beyond help lol

Posted: 6/3/03 at 2:36pmYep -- starts at 11:30am. Since Im rushing for Chicago, I won't be down there till probably about 10:15am. It's okay though, I got there REALLY early (like 8am) the last time I went and I still wound up not really being able to see anything. Though I *was* right by where they were interviewing the stars for TV and radio, so I got to meet a great deal of them and I wound up on the news and got interviewed for a radio talk show.

Posted: 6/3/03 at 2:43pmOh man! and I thought going at like 9am would be early enough. Clearly not. Then again, I'm pretty pushy.

Posted: 6/3/03 at 2:47pmwell I should clarify. It wasn't that I couldnt see because I wasn't close enough. I had a perfect spot -- right behind the reseved seating and I was the first one next to the barricades -- it was just that I'm not very tall (well not tall enough to see over a TV camera) and the reporters chose to set up camp right in front of me. 9am should be fine. At 8am there were only about 10 - 15 of us in the alley.

#11Correction..
Posted: 6/3/03 at 4:52pmThere's no such word in the English language as "alot". Check your Funk and Wagnalls.

Dolly,
You sound like a friend of mine that I haven't seen in years. We always spell "a lot" as one word, just to drive her nuts. I can still hear her: "A lot is TWO words, dammit!"
LOL

Rex has changed his "Rex-Speak" phrase into English and is appreciative of you bringing this blatant disregard for correct grammer to our attention.
P.S. HEY ROB, can we get "spell check" added!

Posted: 6/4/03 at 12:50amI believe Don Stephenson, Broadway's newest Leo Bloom, is scheduled to perform at Stars in the Alley. If he does, let me know what you think of hus vocals. I've seen him on the national tour and was very impressed with his voice. I'd just be curious how he comes off singing at this event.

Clearly I didn't go because it's 12pm now & I'm on here. LOL It was pouring this morning (and still raining now). I don't care if it was rain or shine...I can't afford to relapse.
I'm sure I'll regret not going though.

Posted: 6/4/03 at 2:46pmI have friends who went, and they told me that though the performances were mostly fierce, it was a crappy day in general to have it--not only was it pouring, but it's a matinee day and these people have to perform two shows in addition to whatever they did in Stars in the Alley. Some of the performances I heard about were Deborah Gibson singing "Cabaret," Sutton Foster singing "Jimmy," Laura Benanti singing "Unusual Way," Camille Saviola singing "When You're Good to Mama," Carolee Carmello and co singing "Privilege to Pee," and Tom Wopat and co singing "Lullaby of Broadway."
#21re: re: re: re: To all attending Stars in the Alley tomorow....
Posted: 6/4/03 at 3:29pmI heard that Kate and Tammy sang "If Mama Was Married" from Gypsy, and Bernadette presented Mayor Bloomberg with something.

I had a lot of fun.. I had a spot right next to the stage door, and despite some heavy rain in the beginning it DID clear up quite a bit to where I didn't need the umbrella anymore.
Rox and Trace did not perform -- it was in fact our soon to be new Mama, Camille, who sang WYGTM :)
Yes, Trace is currently playing Roxie in Chicago. She is no stranger to the role, having previously done it both on Broadway and tour. She has been playing Roxie (this time around) since April 15 and she will run through July 10 :)
I just came back from 3 back to back (well almost) performances of Chicago with Rox and Trace and they were just out of this world! I act like that's news to me or something lol
