As Lola, Roxie Hart, Charity Hope Valentine, Anna, Essie, and many others, Gwen was a luminuous talent! We're all lucky she left such a big stamp on musical theatre,
6 times Gwen was the best thing ever
She was sublime when I saw her in CHICAGO in 1975. Her performance and Angela Lansbury's in GYPSY are still my two all-time favorites.
She exuded a warmth that very few performers have.
Beyond her fantastic talent, that is.
I love me some Gwen Verdon.
I'm glad that at least one of her iconic Broadway roles was preserved for posterity.
I live on the West Coast, but I was so lucky to work as an assistant on "Sweet Charity In Concert" at Lincoln Center. Growing up as a kid listening to that musical, I would never in a million years have imagined I'd get to watch her rehearse and perform with that amazing cast (in particular teaching Debbie Allen the dance steps of "If My Friends Could See Me Now"). I was also lucky enough to be one of the organizers of the Los Angeles Actors Fund Tony Awards Viewing Party honoring Ms. Verdon. Both once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Having never got to see Gwen Verdon live I am still so glad that she got to reprise her role in the film of "Damn Yankees" - a role which suited her down to the ground. Long live the memory of Gwen Verdon.
