I agree with both of you - he lacks energy in this performance, but it is also a lipsync, so I'll wait to pass any real judgement till we see how he does live.

 

As for " I'm surprised they have booked him so much in advance though. " - the scenes are just edited together. I'm pretty sure he just showed up on the RuPaul set (probably sometime during the filming of or right after season 9) and shot that video. They also had Ru do a "congratulations on being seen on Broadway at Kinky Boots" in the last episode of All Stars which was most certainly a voice over. I'm confident that Todrick wasn't cast as far back as Spring/ Summer of this year and All Starz was also shot last year during fall.

Saw Kinky Boots yeterday for the first time - thought it was great.  Understudy was in for Lola, did a great job!
