Maybe he was supposed to take over for Brady in April and something fell through.
It's on the show's Facebook page, so it must be official.

He'll be great in the role, but his personality leaves much to be desired. I'm surprised they haven't offered the role to Alex Newell of Glee fame yet.

So much for the Hirschfeld opening up this winter. I wonder how many of his 2.2 million subscribers will see the show.

Maybe he can do a Dance Moms performance where all the girls and Abby Lee Miller appear on stage. That's honestly how I know of him.

People may only know him from his youtube videos and assume he's not a serious actor or performer, or perhaps people think it's stunt casting. The truth is he is perfect for Lola and I can't wait to see what he's going to do with the role!
I saw him in Straight Outta Oz at the theatre I work at and while the production values were nothing to write home about the cast was great and Todrick does have quite a bit of stage presence as mentioned above. His persona is appropriate for Lola. I don't see why his casting would be a problem.
I don't know him and can't say anything about him as an actor, singer etc. if he does have 2.2 million followers, that may have had an impact on casting. I've heard it can make a difference for TV/film.
I hope it isn't crossing over to theatre now. Though we've had tv "stars/celebs" stunt casting for a long while so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at social media 'stars' coming over. Ah well.
