It's really sad that there isn't an award for 'ensemble' or something like that, because the three urchins in Little Shop of Horrors amaze me beyond belief with their harmonies, energy, and sass throughout the show, and the only award they are elible for is the Best Revival award, which doesn't necessarily award their individual talents.
Also, no one girl can really be singled out because they are a trio, so I was just thinking how it was sad that they can't be recognized for their outstanding jobs. Unless I'm wrong and they are eligible for something...
Does anyone else feel the same?

I def. think there should be a best ensemble and a best understudy
There have been past cases where two or more actors have been nominated for Tonys as a unit. The children in "The Sound of Music" were nominated as one. So were the pairs of leads for both "Side Show" and "Sizwe Banzi is Dead and The Island".

Didn't the entire cast of Kat and the Kings win the Best Actor in a Musical Olivier a few years ago? I have no idea how that worked.
That would be great to have them nominated as a unit. I mean, I was so impressed with them, especially this last time I saw it in March because I was right up front and I was blown away by their vocals and energy.
what other parts can/shud be nom. as a unit?
I agree-the Urchins were the best part of the show!
How can LSOH be considered a revival on Broadway when it never played on Broadway ? To me, it should be considered a new musical

Because it's such a community and school theater staple, it can hardly be considered new material. The rule was created for Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme. Let's face it, even if the opera had never been performed on Broadway before, it wasn't new, either. The only problem is that the rule is a judgement call, and those are always prone to controversey.
But it may fair better in the Revival category against Fiddler and Wonderful Town, etc. than it will in the new musical category with Wicked and Boy From Oz.
Boy From Oz is hardly competition as best musical. Hugh is great, but the show...?
Lol, well at least Wicked is a tough competitor.

And Avenue Q.

Well, if they were to give a Tony Award to "Vocal Trio Who Acts As Greek Chorus in a Musical," Tracy Nicole Chapman, Marva Hicks and Ramona Keller as the Radio from CAROLINE OR CHANGE would take it in a walk (I won't even mention Capathia Jenkins and Chuck Cooper -- the other brilliant voices in that basement). Simply put, individually those are three of the best singers on Broadway and collectively blow away the Urchins from LSOH and the Dynamites from HAIRSPRAY and any other trio currently in town in terms of sheer vocal power and virtuosic technique. Nobody else is even close.
they should nominate all three best featured actress.

Over actresses who actually have individual parts with character devlopment and depth? C'mon. Ensemble members are great, and it's a shame it's their fate is to mostly go unrecognized, but that's how it is. The Tonys are supposed to reward the greatest achievements, not every achievement. Hopefully the members of these ensembles will be noticed by the right people and move on to bigger parts.

i know in london the chorus on jerry spring the opera was nomanated and won best suporting actress in a musical!
How much trio-singing do they do in Caroline? Is it just one song? I haven't seen it yet.
Outer Critics Circle nominated Boy From Oz & not Avenue Q as one of best musicals of the year.Hmmm

Once again- Avenue Q isn't eligible this year since it ran and competed Off-Broadway last year. It's a shame, but it's a matter of timing and that's how it happened. The show is getting a special accomplishment award of sorts to make up for it.

I continue to say that over all Little Shop is this year's best revival -it did not revolve around one star and was wildly received by the audience each of the 5 times I saw LSOH. I hope the Tony voters agree but ever since they voted for Passion over Beauty and the Beast, I have lost respect for their judgement. At least time proved their choice was wrong with the ticket buying public. Passion is long gone and forgotten while Beauty rolls along.

Oh Lord, are you actually saying that the quality of a show is determined by its popularity? I've never seen Passion, but Beauty and the Beast didn't really impress me when I went. And not only do I love the movie and Disney in general, I was a kid at the time- the show's ideal audience member. Passion is gone but hardly forgotten, especially since there's a filmed version.
