Tony Awards iTunes price?!?!

Hey all,

So, typically, I always purchase the Tony Awards telecast from iTunes and in years past it has been priced at around 5.99 or 6.99 for the full show as well as clips of each show separately.

WELL.

The 2015 telecast was just uploaded and it is priced at a whopping $41.96! What do you all think of this? I'm pretty sure the telecasts in years' past were nowhere near this expensive - even in HD. I mean, heck, you can buy entire TV seasons for cheaper than that.

Is it a glitch or greed? You decide. But I do not think I can afford this - and the same probably goes for most people.

That does happen occasionally when things are first uploaded, so I hope you are right. Don't even get me started on the drama that happened with my pre-order for the FINDING NEVERLAND concept album - yes, I'll admit it. I bought it. lol

Must be a glitch. Just downloaded the show on Amazon in HD for $4.99

I also always purchase t and usually in SD; its cheaper and takes up less precious space. So glad its gone down!

Even though I will be purchasing my iTunes version toniight...

In case no one has seen them (what am I saying, I know MOST of you probably see it every day), there is a whole library of Tony Awards shows going back to the 70's on Youtube. I have all on tape/DVD starting at 1986 to present, but would have to convert to digital. I think they were posted by a user name of MissPoochie or something like that (with a poodle as his/her avatar).

The quality on some is not good, but it is like a memory (all grainy and a little scrunchy) but to see the original Chorus Line cast, or (funny for this year) the number from On the 20th Century with an almost unrecognizable Judy Kaye (for those of us who discovered and followed her "only" since Phantom).

These broadcasts are amazing and such a time capsule. Cherish them forever.

Not really... just everything that aired on the actual telecast. Only "perk" is that every musical performance is its own file/scene selection so you don't have to scroll through the 2-3 hour file of the entire telecast.

How good is the quality? I've never bought any video on iTunes. I'm considering buying this year's as well as the rest of them that are also available.
